THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
-
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
THE RIVER
I’m tired of being the rock
That can be shaped to the rivers’ desire
Whatever you need me to be
I can be that –
Long, sleek; curved, jagged;
Though it may take time,
I can be bent to your will
And resemble something beautiful.
Something worthy of photographs
And poems
And admiration
Perhaps someday
I will want to be carved no more
And the urge to cut
And shape
And control
Will overtake me once again
And I’ll barrel through the impossible
Leaving behind only what matters
Perhaps someday
I’ll be the river
Not the rock
And I will be remembered for
the force with which I created,
And not for what I allowed to be left of me
